Experimentation with ceramics
Work done for the subject Couleur et Sculpture in Ensad, Paris.
April - May 2019

Couleur et Sculpture

This workshop of expression within the Ensad, proposes a deepening in the problems of volume and color.
Based on an own production that would serve as inspiration, I had to propose a project that could be carried out in two months and that would take into account and explore these two concepts.

Crystals

My time at Ensad Paris was guided by the work with glass, especially the Camino project.

I took as inspiration the idea of glass, adding one of my own productions made in watercolor as a formal guideline, and tried to combine artistic experimentation with design and serial work.

Volume

I experimented with porcelain casting, traditional clay pressing, and creating the same shape with porcelain paper.

The exploration of volume is also expressed in the play with three-dimensionality, creating images that make the spectator doubt: is it a drawing? is it a photo? am I looking at the pyramid from above or from below?

Color

With the idea of emphasizing volume, I used three different shades on the faces of the pyramids.

The application of color was also part of the experimentation, trying variations in the enamel and watercolor on the pieces already at the biscuit stage.
